The Hebrew word ”Torah” is usually translated ”Law” but a much better translation is ”direction, instruction or teaching”.
We should live a holy life and follow the directions, instructions or teachings of the Bible because we are already saved- NOT to be saved !!
16 because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.”
1 Peter 1:16 –> Leviticus 11:44, 45; 19:2; 20:7
We are children of God (1 John 3:1) and we want to obey our heavenly Father.
Just like our children want to obey their father and mother-
at least they should…
The Greek word ”ἀνομία” anomia:
illegality, i.e. violation of law or (genitive case) wickedness;
iniquity, transgress(-ion of) the law, unrighteousness, sin.
- the condition of without law
- because ignorant of it
- because of violating it
- contempt and violation of law, iniquity, wickedness
15 times in the New Testament.
And what is lawlessness ??
It is a sin.
4 Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.
1 John 3:4
23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
19 I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh.
For just as you presented your members as slaves of uncleanness,
and of lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves of righteousness for holiness.
14 Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers.
For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness?
And what communion has light with darkness?
2 Corinthians 6:14
2 Thessalonians 2:7-12
14 who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.
Hebrews 1:9 –> Psalm 45:6,7
Hebrews 8:12 –> Jeremiah 31:31–34
17 then He adds, “Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.”
Hebrews 10:17 –> Jeremiah 31:34
